Stayed at the hotel for a wedding. Beautiful setting and the rooms were lovely. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had a meal in the bar the night before which was good quality. Breakfast the following morning was very nice with plenty of choice. It was very busy but the staff kept everything well stocked and were helpful. The wedding was great and a good time had by all. Bar price was on the high side though. Overall a brilliant stay.

Lovely stay, fantastic room, outside there is a lovely sun trap with some seating where we could sit outside with drinks. My wife enjoyed the spa facilities, a pool, a steam room, a sauna and a jacuzzi. Breakfast is the only reason I haven't scored it higher, as it was below what you would expect from a 4* hotel, particularly the coffee machine. The sausages looked unappetising. Just the general quality of the breakfast.

Have stayed before as very convenient for visiting nearby family. Room was comfortable enough. What I didn’t like was the intrusive email before arriving about what time would we check in, why are we staying etc. I ignored that and the subsequent phone calls. When staying before under the Mercure brand the breakfast was such a shambles we vowed not to eat there again, breakfast is now £15.95 each and I cannot understand how that price can be justified at all. The gym has been completely refurbished and was very good but of course it’s a fee paying gym so I’m glad it’s been sorted for the regular users. Pool/changing rooms were slippery with dirty wet floors, shame the gym/spa staff ( four on duty chatting) couldn’t mop/brush them occasionally. I noticed the huge dirty stains on the carpets outside the privilege rooms and of course the left food trays in corridor outside rooms. There is still free parking which I’m grateful for but it’s a shame the hotel is let down by the Mercure brand not doing enough to spruce it up. Our room/bed was comfy enough but the cobwebs inside the window and the curtains not ringed through properly tells it all. There’s definitely work to be done!
