Hello and welcome to The Wool Merchant Hotel. We fell in love with Halifax for the characterful, bright, historical market town it is surrounded by beautiful Yorkshire Hills and we wanted to create somewhere people can enjoy spending time here as much as we do.
We are perfectly positioned in the heart of Halifax but in a quiet area, set in lovely Calderdale West Yorkshire with its quintessential English countryside and stunning trails, beautiful heritage sites , very many attractions and tons of activities to enjoy. We welcome individuals, couples, families, friends and if you are a group of people, we will try to get you staying next to or near each other.
Close to fast trains and main roads, working visitors can easily combine business with pleasure and we can help you to hold a corporate conference or cater for your business function.

Lively, historic Halifax sits in the heart of beautiful and rugged West Yorkshire, also known as Bronte country. The countryside is a scenic wonderland used often for filming productions, such as the famous series 'Last Of The Summer Wine'.
With fast trains to nearby Leeds and Manchester or just about anywhere in the UK and a speedy journey straight up the M1 from the south, Halifax is the ideal place for a lovely break or a working visit.
Halifax itself is a Victorian-era masterpiece with so much to explore, see and do whilst you can also go shopping or on business to Leeds or Bradford by fast train and come back to your quiet hotel to relax.
Business visitors can enjoy local attractions, hotel relaxation and great food whilst using our fully equipped business centre. Corporates can use our conference and meeting facility for up to 100 guests.

Staying with us
Built in 1870s, as a Victorian world-renowned trading centre for wool merchants, it was converted into a lovely hotel late 20th century, meaning lots of space. wide corridors and high ceilings for old world charm with fully modernised comfort.
We are more a hotel complex with a highly rated restaurant and two lovely lounge bars (one for holding your own private events downstairs) plus conference facilities. Even with all that available, we are still a welcoming and intimate space to make sure everyone, whatever their reason for visiting, feels fully at home.
Our stylishly decorated rooms are all en-suite with Smart TVs and fast broadband whilst Lavazza Coffee and Fresh Tea is available twenty four hours a day.

The Restaurant & Bar
Our restaurant has received praise from many guests and expert 'foodies'. Our menus are based around fresh locally sourced produce with seasonal variations. Yorkshire with its climate, landscape and rich soil is a real horticultural centre and is also famous for its cheese, asparagus, smoked fish, rhubarb and of course Yorkshire tarts, as you will see in the various delicatessens and bakeries around the town.

We have a superb collection of wines for when you sample some of our finest Yorkshire fare in the Hotel's restaurant and our bars are stocked with the widest range of spirits, beers and our local speciality, artisan drinks
Whether you're after a refreshing local beer, cheeky glass of red or a hot beverage, our bar is fully stocked with all your favourites. Sit back and relax in our lounge or take your tipple outside to the beer garden.
