Babul’s was never just about food; it was about family, flavour, and flipping the script on what a South Asian restaurant could be. It all began in 1995 in Barnard Castle, when we opened our first restaurant. Built on recipes passed down through generations, we set out to bring bold South Asian dishes to the North East with a fresh, exciting twist. This vision was led by our father, Rafique Uddin Babul, a culinary pioneer whose creativity, passion and spice expertise shaped our journey from the very start. His legacy lives on in everything we serve, from hearty signature dishes and inventive street food to handcrafted cocktails. We opened our Darlington restaurant in October 2022, bringing that same energy, heritage and hospitality to a whole new crowd. Both our sites are entirely nut free, and our menus are packed with flavourful options for vegetarians, vegans and meat lovers alike.
