Looking for something to do with the whole family but don’t want to break the bank? Embark on a voyage of discovery through the Irwell Valley with our Family Explorer ticket. Take in the whole 12-mile line and hop on and off at any of the 7 quirky and unique station stops. You’ll enjoy a trip on a genuine steam train, see pretty station buildings and platforms and have a perfect family day out!

Tickets are valid for All Day Travel on the date shown. Your ticket also allows a Complimentary visit to Bury Transport Museum 10am - 3pm on the same date (subject to opening days).

Make sure you check our Timetable for your chosen board point (times displayed on this page indicate the first departure from Bury).

Trains will NOT call at Heywood on Green Timetable days.

Ticketing Information

Please make sure you have a version of your ticket (printed OR on your handheld device) ready for inspection.

Up to 2 Adults and 3 Children can travel on one Family Explorer ticket.

Family Explorer tickets are only available online or purchased from our booking line  and cannot be purchased on the day.
