Review: Dirty Dancing The Classic Story on Stage

Review: Dirty Dancing The Classic Story on Stage

Based on the iconic 80’s film ‘Dirty Dancing’ experience the classic story on stage in this marvellous live show.

The story is set in the summer of 1963 and Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman (Kira Malou) is on a holiday with her family at the Kellerman’s resort, which is an old-fashion place that seems to be stuck in its old-fashioned ways. However, behind the scenes, there’s a lot more going on. The ‘entertainment staff’ lead by dance instructor Johnny Castle (Michael O’Reilly) don’t really fit in and can only express themselves through some hot, energetic and edgy dance. Johnny has some serious moves and some serious problems but with the help of innocent Baby, they both might learn a life lesson.

The show adaptation is incredibly loyal to the film and ensures all the classic scenes and lines are there. So, you won’t be disappointed as your favourite bit is most probably there and bonus, the incredibly talented cast perform it to the highest of standard.

The revolving scenery which was designed by Andrea Comotti is very effective. It places you both at the heart of the resort and behind the scenes in the raunchy staff quarters.

Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story on Stage really is a brilliant homage to the film and a must-see for every Dirty Dancing fan.
