Bagdale Hall was built in 1516 for the Conyers, who were at the time one of the most important families in Whitby. The hall was described at the time as being surrounded by green fields. It was partly bordered on one side by Bagdale Beck. The hall grounds extended up river as far as the current high-level bridge.Whichever you choose, Bagdale Hotel is perfectly located in the centre of Whitby, close to local amenities and attractions. For those who enjoy the great outdoors we have the North York Moors and the North Sea coast on our doorstep. Guests will also enjoy a trip on the North York Moors Steam Railway, visiting the historic Abbey, and enjoying many of Whitby’s wonderful cafes, restaurants and bars.
