42-44 The Avenue, Southampton, SO17 1XP
Originally two Victorian Houses, The Elizabeth House Hotel in Southampton, was opened some 60 years ago by an ex cruise liner steward. The artwork in the hotel reception lounge reflects the long-standing relationship Southampton has with cruise liners. For the modern day explorer, the Elizabeth House Hotel is situated less than a mile from the Southampton Docks and all major cruise terminals. As part of a sustained programme of improvement, No.42 The Avenue (Clanfield House) was purchased for further hotel accommodation. Clanfield House was for many years, the Rectory of St.Barnabas Church and latterly the constituency office of the late Sir James Hill, one of Southampton's M.P's. This Southampton hotel has retained features synonymous with Victorian styled buildings; high ceilings, original plaster covings, stained glass and original banisters, giving the hotel a spacious airy ambience. Recent refurbishments have perfectly integrated modern amenities such as fast Wi-Fi and Smart TV's into the hotel offering.
