At Hideaway, we serve fresh, flavourful dishes inspired by a deep love for culture, family, and travel. I had the incredible opportunity 7 years ago to journey with my four eldest children through 18 regions across South Africa, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore. Along the way, through vibrant markets, humble rural kitchens, and the warm embrace of family-oriented cultures, I was reminded of what food is truly about: connection, heritage, and heart. That journey reignited my passion, and it lives on in every dish we serve. Then came the dream: to open my own food space. Six years ago, my father and myself took over a run-down chip shop and began building Hideaway. Within three months, life changed, my marriage ended, 2 months after that my father fell ill. I found myself doing it all, managing the project, learning the trade, parenting full-time, and pushing through personal and family upheaval but this all helped shape this place. And in the midst of it all, my children grew and so did our team.
