Penmere Manor Hotel, Mongleath Road, Falmouth, Cornwall, TR11 4PN
Originally known as Penmere House, Penmere Manor was built by a Captain of one of the Cornish Packets – ships that transported mail around the world and played an important role in Falmouth’s history. The doors to the Library are said to be from one of the packet ships of that era.The house remained in private occupation for most of its life.During the Second World War the then owners, members of the well-known Cornish Bolitho family, vacated the house and it became a home for injured officers, followed by a periodical spell as a teaching convent for girls.Penmere House was transformed into a hotel in the late 1950s and has always been very much a family owned and run hotel. The comfort of guests and feeling of welcome is paramount; the Moore family along with their friendly staff offers you a very warm welcome.
