For more than four decades, Bobby Davro has been one of Britain’s best-loved and most versatile entertainers.
Bobby first burst onto television screens in the early 1980s, quickly becoming one of the biggest names in Saturday-night entertainment. His hit shows, including Bobby on the Box, Bobby’s Sketch Pad and TV Weekly, established him as a household name, with his brilliant impressions, quick-fire comedy and infectious personality winning over millions of viewers.
He later moved to the BBC, starring in shows including Public Enemy Number One, Rock with Laughter and Run the Risk, and went on to host 65 episodes of Yorkshire Television’s Winner Takes All.
Over the years Bobby has proved there is far more to him than comedy and impressions. He joined the cast of EastEnders as the loveable Vinnie Monks and has appeared in some of television’s biggest entertainment and reality shows, including Dancing on Ice and Celebrity Big Brother.
But live performance has always been at the heart of Bobby’s career. More than 40 years after his television breakthrough, he remains a hugely popular live entertainer, performing across the UK at theatres, comedy clubs, festivals, corporate events, awards ceremonies, golf days, private functions, holiday resorts and pantomimes.
And Bobby’s impressions certainly haven’t stood still. His act is constantly evolving, with contemporary faces joining the famous characters and voices audiences have loved for years. From Donald Trump and Michael McIntyre to Boris Johnson, Alan Carr, Gary Barlow, Simon Cowell and many more, Bobby continually updates his repertoire, putting his own unmistakable comic spin on the personalities everyone is talking about.
Bobby’s greatest strength is his versatility. Give him a theatre, a festival stage, a corporate audience or a late-night cabaret room and he knows instinctively how to entertain it. His combination of stand-up, impressions, music, audience interaction and more than four decades of experience means no two performances are ever quite the same.
He continues to develop new material and perform to audiences around the country, including appearances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, proving that his enthusiasm for live comedy is as strong as ever.
Away from the stage, family is hugely important to Bobby. He is the proud father of three daughters, Brittany, Tierney and Marnie, and has recently taken on one of his favourite roles yet — being a grandad.
When he does manage to find some downtime, Bobby is happiest fishing, spending time with his family, or settling down with a glass of Chardonnay in front of the television.
After more than four decades in showbusiness, Bobby Davro is still doing what he does best — making people laugh.
